______ Ardrossan Community Campus is a new 16,350m2 educational facility which will incorporate both Winton Primary and Ardrossan Academy. The new facility will include state-of-the-art educational and sporting facilities, a community library, and a swimming pool.

Ardrossan Community Campus is a new 16,350m2 educational facility which will incorporate both Winton Primary and Ardrossan Academy. The new facility will include state-of-the-art educational and sporting facilities, a community library, and a swimming pool.
Partially funded by the Scottish Government through the Scottish Futures Trust, the project will create a new community and educational campus on a former brownfield site within the town’s North Shore and Harbour area and will target in-use energy consumption of 67/kW/m²/annum.
Designed by JM Architects for North Ayrshire Council, the new education and community campus is part of £150million plan for the site which also include sports pitches, housing, commercial uses, roads, a new coastal path, and facilities associated with an extended marina.
Work on the former Shell site is expected to start in the Spring of 2022 with the site remediation works and the Campus construction commencing in late 2022 with the school opening in January 2025.

___________Sustainability
Ardrossan is a LEIP funded project and has to achieve an operational energy target of 67kWh/m2.annum. It is being designed to the Passivhaus Standard and is also one of the first projects to apply the Scottish Futures Trust – Net Zero Public Sector Building Standard.
As such, Ardrossan has set ambitious operational energy, embodied carbon and indoor environmental quality targets.
___________Our Scope
We are the providing an independent Energy and Sustainability Consultant role within the project design team, with the responsibility for developing the energy, carbon and environmental strategies.
Strategy development has been undertaken using detailed dynamic simulation modelling to accurately account for building performance, via digital twin technology.
The modelling and analysis during the design phase has allowed the design team to understand the performance implications of numerous improvement options and allowed the team to then make informed design decisions based on this science based data.
