___________ The Role

 

We are looking for a passionate individual to join our team in Edinburgh. The role is ideally suited to an individual with experience of being involved in the delivery of non-domestic projects performing the role of Building Physics Engineer / Consultant. 

 

The preferred candidate will have excellent knowledge of the key factors that impact on building energy performance including fabric design, thermal bridging, ventilation, airtightness, overheating, heating and hot water solutions, and renewable technology. 

 

The candidate should also have a very good understanding of Climate Change / Net Zero guidance by organisations such as LETI and UKGBC and how to apply the guidance to building performance.

  • Experience of using IES VE software
    • Climate Based Daylight Modelling
    • CIBSE TM52, TM54, TM59
    • LZCGT Feasibility Studies
    • Building Regulations Compliance
  • Experience of producing IES VE simulations and effectively communicating results
  • Experience of analysing and understanding the energy performance of buildings
  • Experience of delivering new-build and retrofit projects
  • Experience of operating within the construction sector
  • Good understanding of embodied / whole life carbon
  • Good understanding of the Passivhaus standard
  • Good understanding of detailed construction drawings
  • Good understanding of mechanical & electrical building services design
  • Good understanding of low and zero carbon generating technologies

  • Team leader
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent IES VE skills
  • Excellent Autodesk AutoCAD skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Understanding of Embodied & Whole Life Carbon tools (LCA)
  • Understanding of 3D software such as Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, etc.
  • Understanding of coding and scripting tools.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and communicate effectively
  • Ability to create detailed written reports
  • Fluent spoken and written English is essential as is your eligibility to work in the UK
