Planning Permission Granted for Dargavel Primary School

We are delighted to share the news that planning permission has been granted for the construction of a new primary school within the Dargavel Village masterplan.

The requirement for the new Dargavel Primary School is in response to an increase in demand from the growing Dargavel Village Housing Development. The design team’s approach is based on a landscape-led design and a carefully developed environmentally sustainable design strategy which aims to establish a place first ethos as the key driving force.

The new school will provide a modern, safe and inclusive learning environment for 800 pupils within an integrated site comprising of a full size 3G pitch, parking and drop-off zones for staff, parents and visitors and external learning and play spaces. The school will also offer flexible facilities to cater to the wider community following a thorough community engagement period where feedback was collated and considered within the design. The new Dargavel Primary School aims to encourage and promote a much closer relationship between teachers and learners, and the community of parents, carers and community groups.

As Sustainability Consultants, Carbon Futures has been working closely with Renfrewshire Council and the wider team to develop a sustainable and net zero aligned educational building. We look forward to continued collaboration with the team, where our role includes building performance modelling and whole life carbon analysis.
